Historic York is just 10 miles from our park and will keep you entertained no matter what time of the year (or weather!) with its many attractions, beautiful and historic buildings and shopping and restaurants galore.
- York Shambles – one of the most popular places to visit. The cobbled medieval streets are full of shops both independent and well known stores. The ideal place to do your Christmas shopping especially as dusk falls in the winter where it becomes even more magical.
- York Minster – This cathedral is beautiful from the outside as well as inside with regular events and their famous Christmas carol concerts.
- Walking the walls – the walls circle the city and make you realise how special York is.
- York Castle Museum – A great day out for the whole family with fun ways for children to learn about various periods in history as well as changing exhibitions and events throughout the tear.
- Jorvik Viking Centre – Something that everyone must do. The sights (and the smells!) are so realistic you feel like you have taken a trip back in time.
- National Railway Museum – Little train lovers and big train enthusiasts will love walking around this awarding museum.
- Cruises on the River Ouse – A great way to see York and also look out for the lunch, fish & chips and evening cruises.
- York Marina – located just 4 miles south from York City centre where you can hire boats, maybe even purchase a boat and they have a great Waterfront Café Bar.
- York's Chocolate Story – Buy chocolates, have a tour, learn about the history of chocolate.
